- Sandpaper / sheet abrasives i.e. wet & dry Little use in stick making not so Apply packing tape (or selotape type) to rear of sheet cut sheet into strips for use as required.
- Small hole or crack in buffalo fill with black nail varnish, rub down & polish.
- Filling holes in burr – use shellac filler applied with hot iron. Many colours available.
- Sanding discs getting clogged up? apply piece of plastic overflow pipe to moving disk this will clean it.
- Try using a spent cartridge case as an inexpensive ferrules to your beating or country sticks they come in a variety of sizes and make a good talking point. If you glue them on it will prevent the stick end from getting damp.
- When working your shank in a vice use a plastic or silicone sleeve this will prevent jaw damage to the shank (not everybody knows this)
- I have a block screwed to the workshop floor with a 1” hole in it directly below the vice this prevents the shank from “kicking out “when working it vertically . CC
